Why Are You Waiting?
3 KEYS TO GOING FORWARD!
It is a noble thing to be conscientious about doing the will of God, but I wonder if too much caution isn't often an evidence of a misunderstanding about the nature of God and calling.
Remember the parable about the talents? Three men received talents. One guy multiplied five and another multiplied two. The master was delighted. The third guy feared his master and buried his one talent in the earth. When the boss returned he got his one talent back. What did the master call him? A "wicked, lazy slave."
Most people miss entirely the point of this parable. It isn't a parable about God rewarding good stewardship, its not about stewardship at all - it's a parable about RISK! God rewards RISK. Intelligent risk-taking in Heaven's interest is of interest to Heaven! Those who play it so safe that they never risk losing are called "wicked and lazy."
1.) Be willing to risk.
The Apostle Paul wanted to be led by the Spirit - but he sought that leading while moving. He was far from sitting still as he…"passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them…" (Acts 16:6-7) Blocked by the Spirit in two geographies he pressed into a vision in the night of a Macedonian calling for help. Off he went!
2.) Get in motion while seeking the open door. A parked car is difficult to steer.
I especially encourage young people to go for it. You're not going to be into your real career stride till your 30's so experience as much as you can in your 20's. Swing the bat and be willing to miss. Try many things. Find out what you like and what you're good at. Put yourself into positions where you risk being wrong.
3.) Get a clear picture of where you want to end up. Its amazing how this works. If you get real clear on WHAT you want to see, the HOW TO will start to materialize.
The Bible sequence is "whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray believe…" Notice, the starting point for manifestation isn't "strategy", it's holy desire! Picture the thing you desire and your desire for the thing you picture will attract the vehicle for manifestation. The secret is "believing" with the "heart," not "straining" with the "head." Not that God won't use your mind. In fact He just might drop an entire mega-strategy right into your head in a flash - that's usually how it happens.
The point is that God wants you less worried about missing His perfect will and more comfortable being in motion, risking and seeing His works and interventions in your life.
Conclusion? Love God and GO FOR IT!

After reading this post and thinking about times, you have been offered projects with people, you knew, were not the best choice. Yet, you tried to justify the need. to extend yourself anyway. The learning lesson were probably stupendous, I know, . Now you should be much wiser, and ready to deter unnecessary time wasters. See how you can make better choices, by honoring your discernment. Learn how to accept offers, you know can benefit both parties involved.
When you are earning a living from your skills in a competitive industry, such as ours, it can be all too easy to accept EVERY job that comes your way… especially if you are just starting out. Accepting every project is not an honest means of earning a living. It increases the chance of you making mistakes, letting clients down and providing below average services… which altogether can potentially damage your reputation.
It takes time to develop the disciplines, mindsets and confidence to not accept work that may not be right for you or the client. I want to share with you some guidelines I use when making such decisions to turn work away.
1. Potential client with a bad attitude
When meeting a potential client for the first time you need to be able to work out if you can work with them in a creative capacity and on a professional level. Some clients can be very difficult to work with. I have found that it is best not to start a business relationship with someone that shows signs early on of difficulties to collaborate with others. If I feel a potential client will bring me more grief than good then I don’t bother taking on their future projects. Check out - ‘Bad Clients – Bad For Business’ for a more in depth article about dealing with bad clients.
2. Project brief is non existent or unclear
I like to have a brief for every project. This gives me a chance to quote the project correctly, structure targets with time frames and most importantly aim towards a solid outcome that both the client and myself agree on. If a brief is non-existent, unclear or changes every time the wind blows I walk away. From my experience I generally find whatever I do in the course of these types of working relationships will be wrong. I’ll be to blame for things “that are wrong” as the client never knew or formally agreed with me, in the form of a brief, what they wanted in the first place.
3. You know your skills and services cannot offer value
If a client requires skills you do not have then you need to ask yourself “Can I add value to their project?” Put simply… adding value means will the client get the best from your services they are investing in and will you get value out of it as a professional by not wasting time fixing problems you could have avoided. I like to under promise and over deliver.
4. You are busy and cannot complete projects within deadlines
You must prioritise what work you already have. If you already have a lot of deadlines in your calendar they need to be considered before you take on any more projects that need your attention around the same time as the others. I never overload my deadlines list for fears I will let someone down or provide a project that I believe is below my best. If clients cannot amend their deadlines I recommend they get their requirements met at another studio.
5. You have set time aside for personal down time or holiday
Try not to be tempted to take last minute projects if you have already arranged time off work to spend with your family or friends. In my first year of business I constantly let people in my personal life down by rescheduling plans and taking a ‘quick hour session here’ and a ‘half-day there’. In the beginning of my business I was afraid that I needed to take every project and booking in order to survive. This belief became the norm for me and sadly I lost a few friendships along the way.
You have to work hard in life… you also have to play hard… or what’s the point.
Turning work away is a good thing; it should be embraced as a sign of your success and proof of your abilities. We all wear lots of hats these days in the sound production industry. From time to time we all need to remember that we cannot wear every single hat at once and expect success

Take Simple Steps in Letting the Holy Spirit Guide You!
When was the last time you heard discernment discussed? It's not a popular topic today, yet there's probably never been a culture more in need of it. We're overloaded with information but short on insight. One click online gives access to more information than our ancestors could have imagined. But how do we know what's true? And has knowing more, made us any wiser?
Lack of discernment is all around, causing overwhelming debt, unsolvable problems, and the emotional turmoil of strained relationships. Even right and wrong are up for grabs. We increasingly resemble the disastrous era of the judges in Israel when "everyone did what was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25)
In the midst of such confusion, believers need to develop a discerning spirit so that we can know truth and the Lord's direction in every circumstance. Without it, we veer off course and find ourselves in trouble, many times deep emotional trouble. Discernment--the ability to look beneath the surface to see reality--involves evaluating information or situations, recognizing differences, considering consequences, and thereby making sound judgments. In our humanity, none of us have this kind of wisdom, but the Lord is willing to give us the discernment we need, just ask Him.
WHY DO WE NEED DISCERNMENT?
To discover and fulfill the Lord's plan for our lives, we must be able to hear His voice. Suppose you ask Him to guide you in making decision. When a sense of direction comes, can you tell whether it's from GOD or your own mind? If you seek advice from a fellow believer, can you determine if the LORD is speaking through him or her? Without discernment, you won't know for sure and as a result, you might take numerous wrong turns in life.
Discern GOD'S will.
While the Bible in some respects speaks definitively about how to live, it doesn't directly cover every situation. For example, no verse will tell you whom to marry or whether to move for a new job. But this doesn't GOD is silent on the issue. Although your particular situation may not be mentioned in Scripture, biblical principles cover every decision you'll ever face. The Holy Spirit, dwelling within, is there to guide us to the right understanding of how to apply GOD'S word.
To distinguish between legalism and liberty.
Personal convictions aren't necessarily moral mandates for all believers. Scripture is explicit about the LORD's standards. Within those boundaries, GOD also offers protection by impressing on us to maintain or avoid certain practices, based on our unique strengths and weaknesses. So if someone pressures you to conform to his standards, you should be able to distinguish a biblical command from a preference.
Spiritual Discernment is a gift from GOD.
It's not something we can manufacture in ourselves, but a quality, He develops in us, when we choose to ground ourselves in prayer and learning to apply the Bible. The more time we spend communing with GOD and filling our minds with His thoughts, the more discerning we will be. The goal is to let the Holy Spirit guide us every moment and every situation. To do that, we must guard what we allow into our minds. Foolishness and worldly thinking will overpower spiritual discernment, when we spend two or three hours in front of the television an only 5-10 minutes in the Word of GOD. The Holy Spirit is always within us, to guide us into all truth and help us recall Christ's Words (John14:26; 16:13). However you & I have the daily responsibility to put Scripture into our mind so, He can bring it to our remembrance.
Greater Discernment is needed NOW.
You can not afford to wait until you are facing a critical decision. Sound judgment is produced through practice as our senses are trained to discern good and evil (Heb 5:14) It's not a matter of perfection, but a long process of learning to distinguish GOD'S guidance. Ask the LORD for guidance and to best of your ability, do what you think He's saying. If you're truly seeking to follow Him, He'll show you the way.

5 Steps To Self Talk That Will Transform You
By Lance Wallnau/ co-writer Eliza Dukes
Self Talk, One of the most powerful factors in personal transformation is SELF TALK!
If, as the Bible states, you are “transformed by the renewing of your mind,” how you think and what you say to yourself have to both be top factors in your transformation.
So where do we begin?
First, we need AWARENESS! The mischief regarding self talk is that it is so constant we seldom are aware we are doing it. You won’t always catch it, but you can be aware of how it makes you feel. Your emotions are wired to your thoughts – they are linked into a cause and effect sequence. As Paul wrote to the Romans: “The mind that is set on the flesh is death, but the mind that is set on the Spirit is life and peace.”
So here are 5 steps that you can use:
1. When in an extreme negative state of feeling, ask…”What am I saying to myself right now?” Get clear on the thought or belief that you hold about yourself, others, or the situation in mind.
2. Ask – “Can I be absolutely certain that what I believe is true? How do I know?” Does what you are thinking actually line up with the Word of God? If not, what should you change? Again, if it’s the truth that sets you free, it’s a lie that holds you captive. What’s the lie at the root of this? Is there a subtle insinuation that “You are not enough?” or “You will not be loved?” or “You will lose something you value”? How do you know this is true?
3. Does this thought or attitude serve your ultimate best interests? Does it make you happy, calm, and fulfilled?
4. Does this attitude or belief get you more of what you want, need, and deserve? Is it taking you into your desired future, or is it leading you into circumstances that you don’t want?
5. MY FAVORITE STEP…… Since we all pretty much create our own meaning for things, what could you come up with as a new meaning for this situation? What new attitude or new belief could you create that would make this an exciting and positive experience for you?
THIS last step is the practice of “Over-comers”! They work with the problem until they unearth the empowering belief that re-frames it.
As the researcher Napoleon Hill discovered, every adversity carries within it the seeds of an equivalent or GREATER benefit of SUCCESS.
